You can give a man one night of sleep in a warm, safe bed. During the winter months, finding a dry place to sleep on the streets is almost impossible. You can help them find comfort at the Mission and a chance to turn their life around.
For the homeless, or those struggling to make ends meet, food is often hard to come by. They can go days without food. A good meal at the Guiding Light Mission can lead to a changed life.
A pillow is a valued possession when you are used to sleeping on the streets. You can provide comfort to a weary head by providing a brand new, clean and comfortable pillow.
Once a man graduates from our recovery program and finds work, he moves into his own place. You can help someone get their new life started by providing them with dishes, silverware, glasses, bed sheets, a mattress, comforter, rugs, curtains, pots and pans, coffee mugs, towels, washcloths, a shower curtain and a lamp.
Winter on the streets can be deadly if you don’t have the essentials to keep you warm. You can provide a complete winter kit with a warm coat, gloves, hat and a scarf.
Our library needs quality Christian books for adults. Books expand minds and give opportunities to improve
literacy skills. Adults use our library for study, enrichment and Biblical encouragement.
You can help our library expand by supplying a bookcase for our library. Our library is used by guests in recovery for education classes and Bible Study.
Are you looking for a simple gift that makes a big impact? Spiral notebooks are used by recovering men to take notes from their studies and to journal their thoughts through their recovery process. Many keep the notebooks and refer back to them during difficult times in their lives.
Help our recovering residents get to work every morning. By providing bus passes, you help someone get back into the workforce, and well on their way to recovery.
Many of our recovering men have asked for the opportunity to study the scriptures or read on a sleepless night. You can provide light to read without disturbing others.
Many of the men we meet on the street don’t have the basic hygiene necessities. You can provide a travel kit, complete with a toothbrush, toothpaste, dental floss, soap, washcloths, deodorant, a razor, shampoo and a comb.
Some men will go months or years without a haircut because they simply have no money for it. Yet, finding a job without a haircut and the right hygiene is almost impossible. You can help someone look good and feel good again.
We often take clean socks for granted. But life with wet socks, or even no socks is miserable! You can provide a set of clean socks to one of our guests.
This Christmas we will serve hundreds of Christmas dinners to homeless and hungry people in our community. By sponsoring a table you will provide meals for an average of 75 people who will be joining us throughout the day. Your sponsorship is recognized by an appreciative sign on the table.
As you can imagine, we go through a lot of laundry, more than any residential machine can handle. Your gift provides a commercial grade washer and dryer to keep our guests’ clothes clean and fresh.
Our entire laundry facility needs an update to keep up with the incredible demand. Your gift will provide all of the facilities and equipment we need to keep up with all of the laundry we do. This gift will be used almost constantly – every day!
We are in need of a minivan to transport guests to work, bible studies, meetings and interviews. Your generous gift will be very appreciated and will be used everyday!
